Dr. Avadhoot D Velankar

I am a conservation scientist with over 15 years of experience working across terrestrial, coastal, and marine ecosystems in India. My work focuses on biodiversity conservation, animal behaviour, population dynamics, and ecosystem-based adaptation, with an emphasis on translating ecological research into management and policy outcomes. I have led and contributed to multidisciplinary projects with organizations such as WCS-India, UNDP, ATREE, and SACON, integrating field ecology, quantitative analysis, GIS, and stakeholder engagement. My research interests include species–habitat relationships, human–wildlife interactions, and the conservation of coastal and island ecosystems, supported by extensive experience in statistical ecology and long-term ecological monitoring.
